My Uncle The Wolf - Who? Oh, The Newcomer Of The Year!?
My Uncle The Wolf - Take The Ride, To The Different Sound!

Hi there. You´re second album is out now. How do you feel after the hard working on it, please describe the reactions to the CD so far.
gpv: My Uncle The Wolf feels amazing right now, the best it ever has...we have devoted ourselves to the era of FLUSH, and could not be happier. The people who have devoted the time and energy to actively listening to FLUSH have understood it and have been overwhelmingly positive. For this I am very thankful.

What happened in the last two years in the crowd of My Uncle The Wolf? How do you spend your time after the great first album in 2008?
gpv: After the first album and the MINISTRY-tour in 2008, Zac and I jumped right into creating FLUSH. We are very secret beings though, using isolation as are greatest tool and asset. 2009 was pretty much spent in Brooklyn at Zac's apartment writing and doing pre-production on FLUSH.....it comes from a very private place this FLUSH-and that is why it is honest and real.

…do you think it would be possible to see you live on stage in Germany next time?
gpv: The last time we were in Europe we were opening for MINISTRY. I believe amidst all the fear and loathing of the journey we played close to 30 shows. We will be touring behind FLUSH in the autumn, September/October. The live version of FLUSH is a journey from front to back, and I really can't wait to take the ride.

Let’s talk a little bit more about the new album, since it was released on 28th may. ”flush” ( review) is more experimental, dark, has more industrial-touch and hypnotic-areas? What are the reasons to create more different album as the debut album?
zac: It's pretty simple, honestly. We recorded our first LP and then our EP "The King's Ransom" in New Orleans. We were fishing in the dark with people who just knew what they knew and attached that sound to our music. This time around, we recorded this album here, home in Brooklyn. That's the difference. The sound of “flush” is the sound of My Uncle The Wolf. It came to us before we went out and tried to find it. gpv: After years of creating, recording, and playing live together; Zac and I finally reached a point during FLUSH where we did not have to try....at all. FLUSH is the sound of letting go of all inhibitions, hopes and aims. We did not intend on FLUSH sounding like anything or anyone besides Zac and George and the tools that we had.

How was the reaction of your record label to create not the same “shit” like on your first record ( review)?
gpv: Of course repeated success is an intention of an industry based on the sale of art; of course this is at direct odds with the creative spirit and the search for the new....I mean this with as much humility as I can muster; I don't give a shit what anyone thinks about FLUSH, because I love it, and I sleep like a baby at night knowing that is all that counts. zac: There wasn't much of a reaction just mostly inaction. George and I did what had to be done for my uncle the wolf - we created FLUSH. We don't hide our integrity.

…and what is now the message of your new record “flush”
zac: burning one bridge at a time. gpv: BUY THE TICKET, TAKE THE RIDE. "FLUSH" is a meditation: listen to the whole thing from front to back and you'll get the message.

Are there some lyrics that are special to you on this new record, where do you get your inspirations from?
zac: There is not one thing on flush that I can single out. It's all connected. the inspirations are betrayal, defeat, solitude, happiness, revenge and ultimately, humanity.

How and why did you choose the album cover, is there a further meaning behind it – some voodoo, crime, politics maybe?
gpv: The guy on the cover's name is MAX. Max feels that he did not get a fair shot, and his story is about his vengeance. This is why I like being ambiguous with explanations though because I never thought about it as voodoo; I'm enjoying looking at it from that angle now. zac: Max is very distraught and you are going to pay.

The Metalglory-Crew is looking forward to seeing you in Germany. Best wishes to you all. Thanks and good lock with the album.
gpv & zac: likewise, we look forward to sharing strange vibes with you metalglory.de. Thanks!
