Waysted "Back From The Dead"

Waysted - Back From The Dead

How did it come to the reunion?

Well I started doing some of my solo stuff called the Plot and Amphetamine with Paul Chapman former Waysted guitarist. Then I thought about getting Waysted back together again.

How did you get in contact wth Fin again?

I got in touch with Fin by Kate who runs the tribute UFO website called strangersinthenight.com. She interviewed Fin and she thought it would be a great idea if he got in touch with me.

What did he do the last years and where has he been?

He had been traveling in Spain, then performing Kareoke shows, and he also sang the song "Handbags and Glad Rags," on the BBC multi-award winning sitcom "The Office."

What is the original idea behind "Waysted"?

The original idea behind Waysted is myself leaving UFO and starting my new band. Hence the Way in Waysted.

Why didn't you work with Paul Chapman again? He co-wrote a few songs and is not to be heard on the album.

The reason why Paul Chapman is not playing on the album is because of the band musical differences. We all did not agree with the way Chapman was leading.

Chris George. Where does he come from? In which bands did he play before? He's got a very bluesy type of playing and I'm wondering because I never heard anything from him before.

Chris George comes from the U.K.,. He was voted best young guitarist of the year in Guitarist Magazine. He played in several successful session projects. He's our secret weapon and guitar hero!

Who had the idea for the cover artwork? It don't fit the music.

It was the record company's idea. Fin wanted it to be plane black with the old Waysted logo on it with the title of the album, "Back From The Dead." Because of the silly way Fin and I can be at times I wanted to call it "Greetings From The OK Coral." I also wanted to have a western theme to
the album because a previous Waysted album had a western title called "The Good The Bad Waysted."

Will the new version of "Waysted" be a longer lasting line-up or is it just a short excursion?

It will be a long lasting line up if we live that long and get along.

Are you planning a tour? Maybe a support for UFO would be great.

I play bass for UFO and Waysted will never support UFO because conflict of interest. Waysted will be starting a tour in January. To find out tour dates go to waysted.co.uk

What are your future plans?

To be successful with UFO and Waysted and a new recording with Robin George, guitarist of Dangerous Music.

Thanks and all the best for the future. Hoping to see you soon on tour in Germany again.
